One of my clients has been working on her “fear of being salesy.” This is such a universal thing, isn’t it?

Is it slimy Used Car sales reps or desperate Furniture sales people that have made us all so afraid of sales? I, for one, wouldn’t want to be like either of my personal experiences with the aforementioned peeps. 🚗

So, of course. When you’re starting out, there’s an uneasiness about making offers. You don’t want to be *that* person.

But…

Have you considered you’re afraid of being *that* person because of your beliefs around sales? 💰

Is it possible that you’re projecting your own bad sales experiences onto others?

What if it’s all in your thoughts? (Hint: It is.) 💭

Can you think of a great sales experience you’ve had?

I can. There’s a high end make-up store here in Nashville. I went in there the first time as a super frustrated consumer, sick of cheap make-up that I felt gross wearing, and I was ready to pay for what I wanted. 💄

The guy who approached me asked what he could help me find. I said, “Foundational Peace.”

I needed some serious peace with my foundation situation.

Him: How much time do you have?
Me: Well, I’ve wasted decades. I have whatever time it takes.
Him: If I promise I can get it all right, will you trust me?
Me: Absolutely.

An hour later I walked out with the perfect combination of basics for me.

He pulled from different brands and explained all the why’s and how’s. All I could think was WHY didn’t I do this YEARS ago?!

I knew he’d picked the right products not because of how I *looked* when we were finished (he’s a professional so obviously the application was terrific), but more importantly, my face *felt* good. I felt natural and light. I couldn’t smell gross fragrance. Nothing was caked on. Nothing was greasy. IT WAS AMAZING. 🥳

Now, did he make me an offer when we were finished? You’d better believe it.

Was I ready to buy? YES! He’d solved my problem.

Did I buy? Absolutely.

*Of course* he was selling me products as he worked. I knew that going in. However, he was also solving a problem for me, a problem I was ready to be finished with.

Beautifuls, when you get freaked out about sales, think of your best sales experience. Think of how happy you were with your experience. And now, think of how weird it would’ve been if you had a great experience and then the person wouldn’t sell to you. Can you imagine me chasing him around the store begging to buy make-up and him not being sure because he didn’t want to offend me? 🤣

So, to you I say STOP IT. 😉

Solve problems.

Make offers.

It’s really that simple.
