I was lying in my hammock staring at the sky. The clouds were going by, and I started thinking about what a small speck of humanity I am in the scope of a large world. ☁️

Looking into the blue I felt a bit overwhelmed by my Purpose. No, I don’t mean overwhelmed in the sense that it seems like too much responsibility. Rather, I mean it in the sense that I have so much to do, so little time and only a computer here in Nashville. Holy cow!!!! How am I going to get it all done? 💻

Hey, wanna’ know a secret? I’m not.

But I sure as heck am going to fill up my space…and overflow a bit, too. Because I am here to help you. I know this as deeply as I know I don’t like to fill my car up with gas. (I digress.)

One friend sent me a note today that read, “I just had a moment where a little Belinda popped up on my shoulder and whispered that I deserve more! Thanks for all you are doing for the Unhooked community. It matters.” 💕

It was so totally unexpected and such a wonderful reminder. Beautifuls, we have to show up every single day and be as excellent as we possibly can. This is real life, and our work matters.

The other day I had to take my car for its annual emissions test. I’d waited till 30 minutes before the testing center closed and it was a Friday. I pulled up, got out of my car, looked at the woman and said, “Go ahead, slap me!”

She looked shocked.

“Nope. I deserve it. You’re just working for a living and I’m out here rolling about as if your time doesn’t matter showing up at this absurd hour. I want you to get home on time, and I’m sorry for being so self-centered. Just slap me!” 😬

She immediately fell out. (‘Cause you know that’s what she was thinking.) I had that precious woman in stitches throughout the test, and as I was leaving (BEFORE 5), she teared up and hugged me.

She whispered, “You don’t know how much I needed someone to make me laugh.” 💖

I don’t know what’s going on in her life, but I was so glad that I was put there in that exact moment to help her along.

And that was a “nod” to both of us. I needed it, too. Never ignore the nods.

Has that ever happened to you? Has someone or something randomly showed up to help you? Something that would be inconsequential to anyone else, but you know in your gut it was for you?
